We met the old-fashioned way - if by 'old-fashioned,' we're talking about Facebook Dating! After over a year of using various dating apps, I finally turned to Facebook Dating. Not too long after that, I stumbled across Will's profile in January 2022. We chatted through the app for a week or so and then went out on our first date - mini golf at Congo River, followed by drinks at LBC. Within a couple of weeks, we decided that we wanted to date exclusively, and the rest, as they say, is history (or herstory).
A few months after we met, I had closed on a house in Clearwater, and Will (and Merfe) ended up staying over more often. Gradually, he stopped going back to his apartment, to the point where, by August, I asked if he had moved in without us discussing it! At the end of 2022, we brought Tank down from Ohio after visiting Will's family for Christmas. When Will's mom passed away earlier this year, we also brought Ace home. Our house is now full of love - and pet fur!
Will wasn't much of a traveler before we met, but now he's fully equipped with a passport and TSA Precheck. He's become quite spoiled with occasional upgrades on flights and staying in bougie hotels. I still laugh when I think about the time we had a bidet in our bathroom at a hotel in Miami, and he asked what it was! We've taken many trips so far and have many more places left on our bucket list. We're thoroughly enjoying our life in Florida together and can't wait to officially become Mr. and Mrs.
As you can tell by the photos, Tania was shocked by the proposal. The whole evening was planned as a long-overdue date night, and Tania should have known something was up because Will seemed a little 'off' during the day - turns out he was just nervous. We enjoyed dinner at Charley's Steakhouse and then went to the beach to watch the sunset. We didn't have a ton of time after the drive over from dinner in Tampa, but it was still a sunset at the beach! We had packed our beach chairs, a speaker, the GoPro (Will had said it was to do a time lapse, but he really wanted to capture the proposal), and a cooler. Well - the GoPro batteries weren't charged, and that died after a couple of minutes! Tania cracked open a seltzer moments after we arrived at the beach, and Will almost gave away the surprise when he said, "Don't you want to wait?" Tania's reply was "For what? We're at the beach watching sunset, I'm having a drink!" Hence, the drink in hand in the photos... Will suggested we take a walk along the beach since it was getting close to sunset. We didn't get too far before he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Tania was surprised at the proposal, but when she saw the ring, wow! He did an amazing job with minimal guidance designing the ring. Luckily, there were a couple of ladies nearby who saw it happen, and they captured these photos for us.
And yes, we like to coordinate our outfits when we go out. Tania's grandparents would always do that, and it stuck with her as a cute thing to do with the person you love.
